Use Resources Wisely & Make the World a Better Place

 Today, the girls worked on 2 petals.  The green petal-using resources wisely and the pink petal-make the world a better place.  We started out by talking about Earth Day since it was yesterday and what we could do to save the earth.  We talked about how our plastic bottles can be recycled and how we were going to use them to make flower pots.  We read a story called Miss Rumphius.  A lady who sprinkles lupine seeds everywhere she goes, thus, making the world a better place.  We also talked about what else we can do to make the world a better place.

 1st step-the girls filled their container with dirt.
 They got to put on gardening gloves.

 2nd step-they put flower seeds in their container.

 A quick group picture-darn sun!

 Then the girls wrote their name on a strip of paper and decorated it with stickers.

 They were then taped around their containers and put into their teachers box, which I and a few of the girls took to their rooms after the meeting.
 We have 4 great kindergarten teachers who are very supportive of our Daisies.  Here is an email I received when I asked if they could be displayed in their room...
Hello, This  sounds like a great idea and I would love to support the daisy scouts. This activity will also fit perfectly into our unit on earth beautification. I will make a home for the plants and look forward to seeing them on April 23.
Smiles, Renée Wilberg
I did hear back from every teacher!!!  Yay!
 With the help and support of their teachers, they are putting them in their classroom for their classmates to enjoy watching them sprout and grow.  The girls will be taking care of them.  Mrs. Wilberg wins for the most Daisies in her class.  LOL!
{if the teacher doesn't have the time or the space for the containers after a couple of weeks, she will send it home with your daughter}
