There was an Earth Day event put on by another troop in our service area yesterday. We had 2 girls attend. It took place at Ridge Run County Park. It was a beautiful day out!
Here is Makiah picking out which flower she wants to plant.
Olivia and Makiah holding their finished flower carton.
They took recycled milk cartons, wrapped a piece of ribbon around them and put a gem on it, took wire and made the handle and strung beads on the wire. Very pretty!
The 2nd craft they made was a wind chime. It was made from a coat hanger and then we strung on bottlecaps and either a fork, spoon, etc. for the bottlecaps to clank against.
This was my favorite craft and I just happened to see one in a store for sale the week before. I should of checked out the price. These bracelets were made from can tabs and some ribbon. It was actually a little hard to learn, but, we eventually got the hang of it.
Lastly, they went on a hike thru the woods lead by older Girl Scouts and every so often there were facts hanging from a tree about how to protect our planet, etc. They each received a little bag of trail mix to take on their hike. I think a FUN day was had by all!
